Choua Xiong, a cultural bearer of HMoob Paj Huam (poetry), is the eldest of the pair. The youngest sister is Paku Xiong, a 2D illustrator whose art interrogates everyday imagination of place and healing. Together, Sisterary offers a sisterhood and artistic temporality to experience joy despite the layers of oppression we encounter (i.e., racism, sexism, classism, colonialism, etc…).

Sister-duo blending visual arts, writing, and community cultural practice to sustain and reclaim HMoob knowledge. Sisterary is a play on the word “sister” and the suffix “-ary” to illuminate the belonging to “sisters”.
